Apparently my wishing and wanting was not for nothing, because, guys, I JUST WON A FRESHMAN ART AWARD. I submitted these four pieces, which were judged collectively, and I was one of four freshman selected to receive $600.

It feels really fucking good.

Now what will be ironic is if I use the money to take a 3d Calc class this summer, and my art will be funding my academics when I’ve been told my whole life that it would be the other way around.

Did I mention that I pretty much figured out my second concentration for my degree? I think I’m going to do Statistics (my other concentration being art of course). The more I think about it the more it makes sense; the only part of Econ I actually like is the graphs, Stats has all of the analytical, quantitative qualities that I like about math, without making me switch into the college of science (and without the trifecta of horror science gen eds), and data visualization is right up my alley. Feels good to be a little more settled. (Ironic because I haven’t been to Stat lecture in about 3 weeks)(Would feel guilty if I hadn’t aced my last midterm without going to class)

Goddamn rain cancelling the second day of buggy. At least I got to go to prelims yesterday; it’s so dorky and so awesome and our school takes it so seriously, complete with a jumbo-tron, scoreboard and sports commentators. Plus, I got to see three crashes.

Oh CFA. This was my entry for the Downhill Derby, a ridiculous event the school of art puts together every year during Carnival. It’s an enormous foam rock on a single tire entirely balanced by a mass of helium balloons. There were plenty of insane floats and carts and I won a fantastic knitted trophy and the whole thing was so so very much College of Fine Arts.
