My Father is Incorrigible
Dad: I'm making some bread with peanut butter, do you want some?
Me: Yeah, sure.
(he starts to make them)
Me: Are you putting jam on them?
Dad: No.
Me: Why not
Dad: I said I was making bread with peanut butter. You can get out the jam though.
(I get out the jam)
Dad: K, they're done!
Me: There is no jam!
Dad: You can put jam on it.
Me: ....Fine. Whatever (Puts jam on my sandwich)
Dad: Are you gonna put some on mine too?

Recommend some artists for me?
Please?
I need inspiration so badly. I’m a sucker for bold brushwork, contemporary sculpture and process based artwork.

Cool beans, yo.

oy with the poodles already
Apparently I’ve gone completely mad. I’ve become obsessed with a story about a poodle that is small enough to fit inside a walnut shell, a children’s book, that apparently, does not exist. It’s the strangest thing to realize that your memories are not real. Now I can’t get the poodle off of my mind and am making a miniscule sculpture about it that I’m going to...

old friends
I’ve realized that I have pretty much nothing in common with my best friend. She is an athlete, I’m buried in art. We have wildly different taste in music and movies. I am cynical and sarcastic, she finds good in everyone. She prefers nature, while I am a city girl. Where she outgoing and helpful, I’m an introvert.
But none of that really matters. Our common interest is each...

My Brown interview ended up being really fun. It was supposed to be “30-45 minutes” but we ended up talking for over an hour and a half, we just got really into our conversation. Oh man oh man it would be so awesome if I could go there.

The school play was quite good. I may have screamed. Twice. The theater kids always seem to be having a blast, but I’ve come to the realization that I could never be one of them, I’m far to introverted, and would never be able to handle all of the high maintenance personalities and drama that goes with them. I’m much more suited for the art department…

Dad: Not as much as you do.

A film is - or should be - more like music than like fiction. It should be a...
– Stanely Kubrick
This sounds all nice and poetic, but I’m not sure I agree. I’ve seen too many films that put style over substance. Movies are a visual treat, but the very best have a great story at the core.

Hey remember back when I was a really good student and actually cared about school and worked hard and did all my homework when I got home from school and studied for tests and never ever stayed up past 12:30? Hahahahahahaha. That was a really really long time ago.

Mixed feelings about the Golden Globes results, though I am pleased with the deserved Colin Firth and Natalie Portman wins, I was really hoping the King’s Speech would walk out with more. I guess I ought to see the Social Network now, if only for Andrew Garfield and the Aaron Sorkin screenplay. Also, if you haven’t seen Temple Grandin, do it. Now. Claire Danes was so deserving (and...
